This extremely rare 1892 version Jules Carpentier Paris Photo-Jumelle 4.5x6cm plate camera comes in its original leather case. It does not come with any plate holders. There are a couple of light scuff marks on its exterior. Both lenses are clean and clear. It has been tested and its shutter is functioning properly. It pull rod is stiff, but fully functional.
This fixed focus and fixed aperture camera was sold in Britain by the London Stereoscopic Company. Carpentier's Photo-Jumelle might be mistaken for a stereo camera; it has two lenses, side by side on the front of a rigid body, tapered toward the lensboard. However, one of the lenses only serves the viewfinder. This is viewed through a red window at the rear, through which the number of the next plate can also be viewed. The camera was made for 4.5x6 cm or 6.5x9 cm plates in a twelve-plate magazine with a pull-push rod for changing the plate.
