Original 1947 Associated Press wire photo shows Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower from behind as he addresses a homecoming crowd estimated at 10,000 on the Kansas State College campus in Manhattan, Kansas. A sea of spectators fills the lawn in front of a campus building, with band members and their instruments prominent near the speaker's platform. According to the separate AP caption, Eisenhower spoke about foreign policy and American aid to Europe on October 25. The original typed caption is taped along the bottom edge of the photograph, and tape remains at the corners; see photos for its placement and condition. The image has visible age toning and some surface wear, particularly around the edges and taped areas. Approximately 7 x 6½ inches. From the archive of a Pittsburgh area newspaper.
