1947 AP Wire Photo dated August 9 in Washington, showing Hugh Fulton, former counsel for the Senate War Investigating Committee, in a verbal clash with Senator Homer Ferguson of Michigan. Fulton sought to testify before the subcommittee investigating Howard Hughes' airplane contracts, but Ferguson refused to permit him to make a statement. Senator Claude Pepper of Florida is seated at left, and committee counsel William P. Rogers is also pictured. Measures 8¼ x 8¾ inches overall. The photo and separate caption are mounted on the same piece of black archival paper. Yellowed tape secures the photo corners and caption edges. Two conspicuous patches of emulsion loss affect Fulton's collar/chest area and the wall at upper right. From the archive of a Pittsburgh area newspaper.
