Original 1947 AP Wirephoto documenting the Greek Civil War, showing Greek soldiers rushing to aid the injured after a troop truck was blasted by a guerrilla mine on the roadway between Kozane and Grevena in Macedonia on July 30. Soldiers work around the wrecked vehicle while an injured Greek officer lies on the ground at left, visible between the standing soldier's legs. According to the original AP caption, the officer later died and nine others were injured in the blast. A discarded rifle, helmets and wreckage are visible throughout the dramatic scene. Original AP caption is printed directly along the bottom of the photograph. Measures approximately 6¼ x 8½ inches. Shows expected age and newsroom handling wear.
