Original 1947 AP Wire Photo showing Harold Bork, a 32-year-old Army veteran who lost both hands during the Battle of Saipan, demonstrating a device he developed that allowed him to bowl using a regulation-size bowling ball. The three-panel image illustrates Bork inserting the device into the ball, carrying it down the lane, and releasing it at the foul line. According to the original AP caption, Bork was employed by the U.S. Treasury Department and was a regular member of a bowling team. Measures approximately 6⅜" x 9¾". This photograph originated from a large newspaper archive assembled and retained by a Pennsylvania newspaper near Pittsburgh.
