1947 AP wire photo shows Kenny Holmboe, winner of the tenth annual Soap Box Derby, celebrating with his family in Akron, Ohio. The August 18 caption identifies, left to right, Mrs. Holmboe, Kenny, brother Ernest, and father Lee. Kenny sits beside his derby car; Lee holds a large trophy at right. The separate original caption and photo are mounted on the same piece of black archival paper. Overall size is 7¼ x 6¼ inches. From the archive of a Pittsburgh area newspaper. A conspicuous spot of emulsion loss appears at the right near Lee's hat and head; other small spots of image loss and surface wear appear near the corners and lower edge. Tape and discoloration are visible at the corners. The caption has aging and edge wear but remains readable. See photos for condition.
