Original 1947 Associated Press wire photo showing famed Spanish matador Manuel Rodriguez, known as Manolete, mortally wounded beneath the hooves of the Miura bull Islero during the bullfight at Linares, Spain. The separate original AP caption is mounted below the photograph, and both are mounted to black archival paper measuring approximately 8 x 8 inches overall. The photo is now attached to the backing by only one small remaining piece of tape. Manolete was fatally gored on August 28, 1947 and died in the hospital the following day.
