Original 1947 AP Wire Photo dated September 19 showing heavy hurricane damage along a downtown New Orleans street after the storm ripped through the city. Debris surrounds a parked automobile, and according to the caption, much of the rubble came from a rooftop structure atop a tall building that housed its cooling system. The caption is separate but taped directly to the front of the photograph. Please note tape on the corners and period handwriting on the reverse. Measures approximately 7½ x 4½ inches.
