Original 1947 AP Wire Photo showing T/5 George Fatt, a polio-stricken soldier being attended after arriving in California aboard an Army transport flight from Tokyo. According to the original AP caption, Fatt contracted polio while serving in Korea and was en route to Valley Forge General Hospital in Pennsylvania. His friend Joseph Leahy Jr. accompanied him and was reportedly the only person able to understand what Fatt was saying. Measures approximately 6½" x 9½". This photograph originated from a large newspaper archive assembled and retained by a Pennsylvania newspaper near Pittsburgh. Original AP caption printed along the bottom border.
