Original 1947 AP Wirephoto showing an X-ray of a six-inch surgical hemostat that had reportedly been left inside the abdominal cavity of 58-year-old Mrs. J. E. Price during an operation 12 years earlier. According to the original AP caption, the instrument was discovered and removed in Cleveland, and the patient was reported to be recovering well afterward. The striking medical image clearly shows the forgotten surgical instrument within the abdomen. Original AP caption is printed directly along the bottom of the photograph. Period tape remains attached at the corners. Measures approximately 6⅜ x 9 inches and shows expected age and newsroom/archive handling wear. Came from the archive of a Pittsburgh area newspaper.
