Original 1947 Associated Press Wirephoto documenting the burial of 63 unidentified victims of the Texas City Disaster, one of the deadliest industrial accidents in American history. The attached AP caption states that simple all-faith services were held on June 22, 1947, as identical caskets were lowered into trench-like graves at a memorial cemetery following the catastrophic April 16-17 waterfront explosion and fire in Texas City, Texas. Measures approximately 9¼" x 7". This photograph originated from a large scrapbook archive assembled and retained by a newspaper near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
