Published in 1947 to commemorate Air Force Day and the 40th anniversary of the U.S. Air Force, the display features articles tracing the evolution of military aviation, portraits of Generals Henry H. Arnold, Carl Spaatz, and Billy Mitchell, photographs of early aircraft, B-17 bombers, experimental flying wing designs, rocket technology, and a striking image of more than 20,000 servicemen forming the Army Air Forces insignia.
