Original 1947 AP Wire Photo showing a dramatic oil well gusher near Leduc, Alberta, Canada. The attached caption describes the discovery of a new oil well in the region, with flames and black smoke shooting skyward as impurities are burned off before the oil is piped into storage tanks. This photograph came from a newspaper archive near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and remains mounted on its original black paper backing. Overall size measures approximately 8½" x 10". The backing has been unevenly trimmed and shows handling wear, creasing, and edge irregularities. Please see photos.
