Original 1947 press photo showing farmer John Pristow with his wife and children, Mike, Helen and Fred, on their farmland near Leduc, Alberta, Canada, with an oil well visible in the background. According to the original caption, Pristow had immigrated to Canada from Poland several years earlier and was "striking it rich" during Alberta's developing oil boom. The well was one of five recently brought in within the agricultural region and reportedly produced about 1,500 barrels of oil while providing Pristow royalties of $225 per day. Original caption is printed directly along the bottom. Period tape remains on the corners, and an AC stamp is present on the back. Measures approximately 6¼ x 8⅞ inches. Came from the archive of a Pittsburgh area newspaper.
