Spires, 39, of Augusta, Georgia, after Spires was arrested in the Senate wing of the U.S. Capitol. According to the caption, officers searched him and found a .25-caliber automatic. The arrest occurred about five minutes after President Harry S. Truman left the Capitol. Caption is separate from the photograph and mounted below it on black archival paper. A very faint AP stamp is present on the back. Came from the archive of a Pittsburgh area newspaper.
