Original 1947 AP Wire Photo showing United States Boy Scouts in France for the World Jamboree reenacting the World War II crossing of the Seine River at the Barrage de Méricourt near Rolleboise. According to the caption printed directly on the photograph, the reenactment took place on August 20, the third anniversary of the first crossing of the Seine by American troops in 1944. Scouts are shown marching across the barrage carrying American flags in a large commemorative procession. Measures approximately 6½x9 inches. Note the aged tape on the corners and typical newsroom/archive handling wear. This photo came from the archive of a Pittsburgh area newspaper.
