1947 AP Wire Photo dated August 21 in Chicago, featuring Felix 'Doc' Blanchard, former Army back, and Charles Trippi, former Georgia star, posing together in their All-Star football uniforms. Blanchard wears number 46 at left and Trippi number 3 at right; both hold a football beneath their star-patterned shoulders. The caption identifies them as key backs expected to play a major role for the All-Stars against the Chicago Bears the following day. Measures 7½ x 7¾ inches overall. The photo and separate caption are mounted on the same piece of black archival paper. Yellowed tape remains at the photo corners and caption ends. Several patches of emulsion loss affect the dark upper background, largest above Trippi, with scattered surface wear. From the archive of a Pittsburgh area newspaper.
