Original 1947 AP Wire Photo dated June 7 showing extensive tornado destruction in Julesburg, Colorado. According to the caption, a fruit store and furniture warehouse were leveled by the tornado, leaving piles of rubble surrounding a telephone office that was remarkably spared by the "freak twister." Telephone operators reportedly remained at their jobs despite the destruction around them. The caption is separate from the photograph. Please note tape on the corners and age-related wear.
