Original 1947 Associated Press wire photo showing 21-year-old Martin Eppich handcuffed to New York State troopers after his capture near Troy. Police described Eppich as an escaped German prisoner of war who fled a camp in England, stowed away aboard the liner Queen Mary, and escaped into upstate New York after reaching New York City. Troopers Frank M. Slezak and Corporal William A. Nennstiel are also shown. The caption is separate from the photo, with both mounted on the same piece of paper. Overall size measures approximately 7¼ by 8¾ inches. Vintage tape, creasing, edge wear, and surface wear are present. From the archive of a Pittsburgh-area newspaper.
