Original 1947 AP wire photo shows Franklin D. Roosevelt Jr. (left) and CIO president Philip Murray laughing beside a memorial plaque honoring President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Murray had unveiled a replica at the CIO convention in Boston on October 16. The caption printed on the photo says the memorial was intended for the CIO Memorial Children's Wing at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington. Roosevelt Jr. spoke at the convention, criticizing a Congress he said served special interests. FDR's portrait appears at the center of the plaque. Tape remains on the corners, with yellowing and wear where it overlaps the photo. The print shows surface scuffs and edge wear; the plaque area appears light. Measures approximately 6½ x 5 inches.
