Original 1947 AP wire photo shows President Harry S. Truman presenting a gold cup to Danny Foster of Oakland, California, at the White House in Washington, D.C. The September 23 caption identifies Foster as the winner of the President's Cup Regatta the preceding Sunday and shows the men holding the trophy together. The separate caption is taped partly across the bottom of the photo, and both are mounted on the same piece of black archival paper. Overall size is 7¼ x 6 inches. From the archive of a Pittsburgh area newspaper. Tape holds the photo at its corners and crosses the caption; there are small areas of image loss, surface marks and scratches, yellowing, and edge wear. The caption is faded and partly obscured but largely legible. See photographs for condition.
