Original 1947 AP Wire Photo showing sailors carrying victims of a plane crash ashore at Pearl Harbor following a fatal accident near Honolulu, Hawaii. According to the separate original caption mounted below the photograph, three unidentified victims were brought ashore from the USS Rowan after the aircraft carrying George Atcheson Jr. and his party was ditched for lack of fuel. The photograph is mounted on black archival paper, with the separate caption mounted on the same sheet. Measures approximately 8½x6¾ inches overall. AP stamp on the back of the image. Note a small amount of emulsion loss and typical newsroom/archive handling wear. This photo came from the archive of a Pittsburgh area newspaper.
