This display documents the tragic Island Queen excursion steamer fire on September 9, 1947. It includes three original AP Wire Photos showing rescue efforts, the burned and partially sunken vessel, and an aerial view of the Island Queen before the disaster. Also included are two original AP wire captions and a contemporary newspaper clipping describing the explosion, fire, rescue efforts, and loss of life. The reverse is blank.
