Original 1947 AP Wirephoto showing Leonard D'Attolico, 26, of Brooklyn after he bailed out of an airplane over Times Square and parachuted into a West 44th Street backyard. A former paratrooper, D'Attolico said he wanted to take 16mm aerial photographs of New York City and was charged with endangering public safety. The image at right shows the backyard where he landed.
