Original 1947 AP Wire Photo showing young Jimmy Foster of Chicago attending the opening performance of a circus while surrounded by a group of clowns attempting to make him laugh. The attached AP caption notes that despite their combined efforts, Jimmy "just couldn't find a thing to laugh about." An excellent human-interest image from the postwar era capturing a candid and memorable moment between a reluctant child and a troupe of entertainers. Mounted on original black scrapbook paper from a Pittsburgh-area newspaper archive with the original AP Wirephoto caption attached. Measures approximately 7½" x 8" overall including the scrapbook mount. Condition shows age-related wear including scrapbook mounting remnants, corner wear, minor surface marks, and light handling wear consistent with newsroom use and storage. Please see photos.
