Original 1947 AP Wire Photo showing an unidentified telephone strike picket walking outside the Western Electric Company plant in Kearny, New Jersey. According to the separate original caption, approximately 17,000 employees had walked out as part of the nationwide telephone strike. After being soaked by persistent rain, the picket is shown wearing a cardboard box covered with strike notices while continuing along the line. The separate caption is taped directly onto the bottom of the photograph. Measures approximately 7¾x6½ inches. Note the aged tape, visible surface cracking/emulsion wear along the right side of the image, and typical newsroom/archive handling wear. This photo came from the archive of a Pittsburgh area newspaper.
