According to the separate original caption, the planes of Jean L. Ziegler of Kenmore, New York, shown at top, and Jack B. Hardwick of Arcadia, California, shown at bottom, both crashed during the race and burned afterward. The caption states that both pilots parachuted safely to the ground. Photograph and separate caption are mounted together on black archival paper. Measures approximately 9½x8 inches overall.
