This antique 1/6 plate (2¾x3¼") Daguerreotype photo features a Victorian gentleman posed wearing a striking patterned vest and dark coat. The image is housed in half of its original case, with the front cover missing.
Original seals remain intact. There is visible tarnish, surface wear, scattered spotting, and heavier deterioration concentrated along the lower portion of the image area. Some clouding and discoloration are present beneath the cover glass as well. The ornate brass mat and preserver remain intact, and the case shows expected age-related wear throughout.
