Original AP Wire Photo dated July 3, 1947, showing President Harry S. Truman waving a cane and carrying a briefcase as he leaves the White House in Washington. He was departing by automobile for Charlottesville, Virginia, to deliver an Independence Day address at Monticello. From the archive of a Pittsburgh-area newspaper. Photograph and separate original caption are mounted on the same piece of black archival paper. Mount is irregularly cut, measuring 7 x 8¼ inches at its widest points. Tape remains at the photo corners and caption ends, with yellowing and staining. Several spots of emulsion loss are visible, including on Truman's trousers and the steps. Light surface wear, edge wear and caption discoloration are present. Please examine photos for condition.
