Original 1947 Associated Press Wire Photo documenting a deadly apartment building fire in Chicago, Illinois. The attached AP caption states that firefighters battled a blaze in a crowded four-story apartment building on the city's Near Northwest Side on October 10, 1947. Ten people perished and thirteen others were hospitalized. The image shows fire apparatus, hose lines, and automobiles outside the scene during firefighting operations. This photograph originated from a Pittsburgh-area newspaper archive scrapbook collection. Measures approximately 6¾" x 9¼".
