Original 1947 AP Wire Photo showing the burned and still-smoldering wreckage of a U.S. Army B-29 Superfortress following a fatal crash at Eglin Field, Florida. According to the separate original caption, nine of the aircraft's 11 crew members were killed when the B-29 crashed into dense woods about 200 yards from the runway immediately after takeoff on a routine training flight. The image is identified as an official Air Proving Ground Command photograph. Photograph and separate caption are mounted on black archival paper. Measures approximately 7⅝x7⅝ inches overall.
