Original 1947 AP Wire Photo showing the wreckage of an amphibious cabin plane after it crashed during an attempted emergency landing on a Philadelphia street. According to the separate original caption, the crash occurred in view of hundreds of people and killed Howard A. Perkins, 40, a prominent Wilmington, Delaware construction company executive, while injuring three others. The group was returning from the Monmouth Park races when the aircraft ran out of gas.
