Original 1947 AP wire photo captures pilot Bill Odom kissing his wife, Dorothy, after landing at Chicago Municipal Airport on August 10. The caption printed directly on the photo reports that he had just set a new solo round-the-world flight record and was greeted by thousands of Chicagoans. This close-up frames the reunited couple with onlookers behind them, moments after his arrival. Yellowed tape remains on the corners, partly overlapping the caption at the bottom. There are conspicuous white patches of emulsion loss in the upper left near the tape, with surface marks and edge wear. The print is notably light, with warm discoloration. The original caption remains legible despite its faint printing. Measures approximately 6⅝ x 9¼ inches. From the archive of a Pittsburgh area newspaper.
