Original 1947 AP wire photo shows pilot Bill Odom greeted by his children at Chicago Municipal Airport on August 10. His son Ronnie is held by Odom's father, daughter Rochelle stands at right, and Mayor Martin Kennelly appears at left. The caption printed directly on the photo reports that Odom had just set a new solo round-the-world flight record. Police and a crowd surround the homecoming scene. The print is unusually light, with warm yellowing and age discoloration. Its caption is faint but largely legible. The lower corners show yellowed adhesive residue and patches of surface loss; another white patch is visible along the left edge of the image. There are also minor handling marks and edge wear. Measures approximately 6½ x 9¼ inches. From the archive of a Pittsburgh area newspaper.
