Original 1947 AP Wire Photo showing British Foreign Secretary Ernest Bevin speaking before the Trades Union Congress at Southport, England. According to the caption printed directly on the photograph, Bevin clenches his fists while arguing that the United States should redistribute "the Fort Knox gold" in an effort to eliminate continuing chaos in world trade payments. Measures approximately 5½x8 inches. AP stamp on the back. Note the aged tape on the corners, a small amount of emulsion loss at the upper left, and typical newsroom/archive handling wear. This photo came from the archive of a Pittsburgh area newspaper.
