Original 1947 AP Wirephoto showing three-year-old Wayne Bowers safe in his mother's arms after an intensive 58-hour search in the Big Bear, California mountain resort area. According to the original AP caption, the child had been missing until a searching party located him four miles from his parents' cabin. Pvt. Salvador Hernandez, shown at right, was credited with finding the boy. The photograph captures the emotional reunion surrounded by members of the search party and onlookers. Original AP caption is printed directly along the bottom of the photograph. Measures approximately 6½ x 9⅛ inches and shows expected age, surface wear and newsroom/archive handling. Came from the archive of a Pittsburgh area newspaper.
