According to the original caption, five cars of the Chief, described as an "ace" luxury train of the Santa Fe Railroad, derailed after a locomotive housing dropped onto the track. Sixteen passengers were injured, but no fatalities were reported. The aerial view shows multiple passenger cars jackknifed and scattered beside the track. Separate original caption accompanies the photograph. Measures approximately 8¼ x 6⅜ inches. Note the tape remaining on the corners, along with typical age, handling wear and newsroom/archive use as pictured. This came from the archive of a Pittsburgh area newspaper.
