Original 1947 AP wire photo shows aviator Bill Odom smiling beside his aircraft cockpit at Fargo, North Dakota. The separate caption, dated August 9, says he was about to take off on his final leg to Chicago and had changed into a white shirt, tie, and business suit. Wearing sunglasses and a headband, he leans on the cockpit and looks toward the camera. The original AP caption is included separately. Yellowed tape is present at all four corners, with discoloration and edge wear. There is distinct emulsion loss at the lower right corner of the image, including a white exposed patch near the tape. The print is light overall, with additional small surface marks visible; examine the photos for condition. Measures approximately 7¾ x 6 inches. From the archive of a Pittsburgh area newspaper.
