Original 1947 AP Wirephoto portrait of Samuel Hyder, 47, of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, after discovering that apparently even laughing could get a man into trouble in 1947. According to the original AP caption, Hyder was fined $2 plus costs by Judge William M. Connell for laughing in public when the laughter disturbed others. Hyder was described as a fellow roomer at the local YMCA. Original AP caption is printed directly along the bottom of the photograph. Period tape remains attached at the corners. Measures approximately 5½ x 7¼ inches and shows expected age, surface wear and newsroom/archive handling. Came from the archive of a Pittsburgh area newspaper.
