According to the printed caption, wrecked passenger cars came to rest across the tracks and against the suburban Downers Grove station after the train struck a tractor that had spilled from a passing freight train. The image shows derailed streamlined cars, damaged station structures and crowds gathered along the platform. Caption is printed directly on the photograph. Mounted on black archival paper and measures approximately 9 x 7¼ inches overall. Shows age, handling wear and newsroom/archive use as pictured. This came from the archive of a Pittsburgh area newspaper.
