The daguerreotype is housed in the remaining half of its original case. An attractive early gilt mat surrounds the image, and the case exterior features an embossed design that appears to depict a floral basket surrounded by decorative scrollwork. The original latch remains present. The case exhibits wear, finish loss, and handling marks consistent with age and use.
