Original AP Wire Photo dated September 13, 1947, showing a Marine Corps honor guard beside the Freedom Train's "Spirit of 1776" locomotive in Cameron, Virginia. The caption describes a September 9 inspection by Attorney General Tom Clark, Gen. A. A. Vandegrift and Lt. Col. Robert F. Scott before a planned 33,400-mile national tour displaying more than 100 historic documents in over 300 cities. From the archive of a Pittsburgh-area newspaper. Measures 8½ x 6⅜ inches. Caption is printed directly on the photo; AP stamp on back. Tape remains on the corners, with yellowing and staining. Small areas of surface loss and dark residue appear near the lower-left caption. Scattered marks, including a blue mark near the lower center, and edge wear are visible. Please examine photos for condition.
