Mounted on black archival paper, this photograph features the missionary schooner Morning Star VI departing Boston Harbor at the start of a voyage to the Marshall and Caroline Islands in the South Pacific. According to the original AP caption, the vessel carried a cargo of Bibles and would transport missionaries throughout the Pacific under the sponsorship of the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions.
