1947 AP wire photo captures a scene at 33rd Street and Seventh Avenue in New York City on August 28. American Legionnaire Harry Fishman of the Bronx, carrying on the Legion's search for "Queenie," a mythical hound dog, gets his cane tangled with a young woman's legs as she dances and laughs. A crowd watches behind them. The caption jokes that the search ends when Fishman's cane reaches a woman's knees and quotes him saying, "Queenie comes about up to here." The separate typed caption is taped across the bottom of the photo, with yellowed tape at its ends and along the print's lower edge. Small white areas of image loss appear along the top edge, with light marks on the image. Photo measures 5¾ x 9 inches. From the archive of a Pittsburgh area newspaper.
