Original 1947 AP wire photo shows thousands of early risers gathered in the amphitheater at Arlington National Cemetery for Easter sunrise services in Washington, D.C. The separate AP caption, dated April 6, identifies the sponsor as the Grand Encampment of Knights Templar. Rows of worshippers fill the curved seating before the columned memorial, with speakers gathered at the front and American flags hanging above. The original typed caption is included separately. The reverse bears a blue photographer's stamp reading "Allen H. Ashburn, Photographer, Mt. Lebanon, Pgh., Pa." Tape remains on the photograph's corners; note corner and edge wear and some small marks and scuffs in the image. Measures approximately 8⅜ x 6⅜ inches.
