This antique 1850s Daguerreotype photo of a Victorian gentleman comes in half of a 1/6 plate (2¾x3¼") wood composite case. The case is 3⅛x3⅝x⅜'' overall. The front door is missing. The hallmark ANSON is that of Rufus P. Anson, a daguerreotypist on Broadway, New York. Active from 1849 to 1857. The other hallmark, NP 40 in an octagon, is attributed to an American platemaker. There are a couple of light scuffs and wear on the exterior of the case. Please see photos.
