Original sixth plate daguerreotype portrait of a Victorian woman with beautifully hand-tinted pink cheeks and a center-parted hairstyle. She wears a dark silk dress with white lace collar and cuffs, a large black neck bow, and a bracelet, posed with one hand resting on an upholstered table. Housed in a leather half case with an embossed floral design. The case shows age with cracking, finish loss, and areas of exposed wood, though the original latch remains present. The image has been professionally resealed but does not fit tightly in the case and can slip out if inverted. One side panel is slightly loose. A very attractive mid-19th century portrait.
