Original sixth plate daguerreotype double portrait dating to the 1850s featuring two well-dressed young women. Both retain attractive hand tinting to their cheeks and gold jewelry. The woman on the right wears an elaborate curled hairstyle with long earrings, while the woman on the left has a center-parted hairstyle and pendant necklace. Both are dressed in fine dark silk dresses with white collars and period jewelry. Housed behind a decorative brass mat and preserver in a leather half case with an embossed floral design and both original latches. Professionally resealed. There is light softness to the image, most noticeable on the hands, along with scattered age-related surface deterioration. A faint pencil inscription inside the case reads, "Taken by Raymond, March 4th, 1852." Please see photos.
