Original 1947 AP Wirephoto showing the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Bibb arriving in Boston after rescuing survivors of the Bermuda Sky Queen, which had been forced down in the Atlantic. A city fireboat greets the cutter while relatives and onlookers wait at the dock for the returning survivors. The separate original caption is held to the bottom of the photograph with tape. AP stamp is present on the back. Measures approximately 8⅜ x 5¾ inches. Note the tape remaining on the corners, along with typical age, handling wear and newsroom/archive use as pictured. This came from the archive of a Pittsburgh area newspaper. Strong aviation disaster, Coast Guard rescue and survivor-return subject matter.
