Original Associated Press Wirephoto photograph measuring approximately 6¼" x 9". The image shows a New York Central System boxcar protruding through the second-floor wall of the National Biscuit Company building in Chicago. According to the original AP caption, the boxcar crashed through the wall after being pushed too far by a locomotive. Remarkably, the wall had recently been rebuilt following a similar accident at the same location. The railcar involved was reportedly loaded with cookies. Dated 1947. The reverse bears an Associated Press Wirephoto stamp, and the original AP caption remains attached at the bottom of the photograph. This photograph originated from a large newspaper archive assembled and retained by a Pennsylvania newspaper near Pittsburgh. Exhibits expected age, handling wear, edge wear, corner creasing, and minor imperfections consistent with newspaper archive use. Please see photos.
